Getting smarter with your flow measurement?

  • Portable battery-powered meter for on-site verification of process flow or inline meter at any location

How nice is it to use ultrasound to measure exactly what is happening in the pipe, without having to install a flow meter?

This can be done simply by placing a rail with transducers on the outside of the pipe and connecting the connectors securely to the amplifier, without having to stop and or open the process. KROHNE's clamp-on amplifiers have a double-channel design as standard. This allows a 2-pad flow measurement, with automatic averaging of the measured values, for optimum operation that is less sensitive to installation effects. Because each channel of the amplifier has its own application settings, the amplifier can also be used simultaneously for 2 separate flow measurements on different pipes. KROHNE supplies the sensor rails in stainless steel for diameters from DN15...to DN4000. The patented mounting mechanism guarantees easy installation. With this mechanism, sensor settings remain guaranteed and the user has access to the contact surfaces at all times, without having to reinstall the sensors.

A clamp-on solution lends itself perfectly to stable process applications, where mounting the flowmeters is not desirable, or for larger diameters where the investment is too costly for inline flowmeters. Another possibility is measuring corrosive liquids, where with an inline flowmeter, expensive resistant materials have to be resorted to. In addition, a clamp-on is very flexible and can be used on many pipe materials and diameters.Because the pipe becomes a part of the measurement and is usually not co-calibrated, the measurement uncertainty does increase compared to an inline flowmeter. In factory calibration and verification, the permissible measurement uncertainty for our clamp-on flowmeters on pipe diameters DN 50 and larger is within +/- 1 %.

For temporary solutions or checks of flow rates, you can also opt for a portable clamp-on flowmeter, which comes with all accessories as standard in a robust case. Here, the amplifier uses a battery power supply. In the amplifier, data can be stored and read out with a USB.With KROHNE's newly launched clamp-on flowmeter, it is possible to perform data logging and graphical display via your phone or tablet. Connection to the amplifier is easy via bluetooth. To sum up: the portable clamp-on is a flexible instrument with many possibilities.
