A beautiful mission, Foodvalley with its heart in Wageningen, start-ups, multinationals and knowledge institutes worldwide work together to develop groundbreaking innovations. This is were knowledge is shared and people make use of each other's equipment and facilities. But also to get in touch with financial investors to develop new initiatives.

Foodvalley has a long-term focus on 3 innovative themes: protein transition, food & health and circular agrifood.

Protein Transition: demand for alternative proteins has skyrocketed in recent years. However, production demands higher quality ingredients, but availability of knowledge, technology and facilities lags behind. Foodvalley NL is taking the initiative to build coalitions of gamechangers that can solve these supply-side bottlenecks. We see potential for localised protein production chains to improve quality and availability and search for alternative protein applications.

Food & health: Consumer behaviour is strongly driven by the products available to them. In addition to increasing overall availability of healthy products in food retail, canteens, producers can create new healthy products or reformulate existing products to make them more nutritious. Good for as well as overweight as for underweight.

Circular agrifood: worldwide a lot of food is wasted. New technologies, markets and collaborations can help farmers, producers, and retailers find innovative ways to repurpose their waste streams.
